This was just put out on the PfC mailing list:
Press for Change www.pfc.org.uk is now in its 19th year of providing legal
help and advice to trans people.
Throughout that time we have provided hundreds of trans people with free
legal advice, but the requests for help are now far outstripping the
service we can provide.
With help from the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and with reserves
of Press for Change, we now have funding for 2 part time case workers until
the end of March 2011.
After then, well who knows – but it may well be that if we want to continue
after that date, we will have to become self-supporting – or fade away.
The TRANSEQUALITY Project is a new service from Press for Change funded by
the Equality and Human Rights Commission. We have a dedicated telephone and
email help desk for advice on trans equality and human rights issues and
(as far as financially possible) we will provide:
-- a free Legal Advice service to ALL Trans people
-- advice on how not to discriminate to those who work with trans people,
their neighbours, their service providers and those who employ them.
